07 — Your first app in insurance
Part 7 of 7 · ← Safe patterns · Index
Not this: "the app writes binding quotes."
This: the app answers factual questions about your products, with citations, and escalates everything else to a human.
The flow
1. User asks a question in ChatGPT. 2. Your app looks up the relevant product in your database. 3. App returns the answer + a citation (IPID reference, product code). 4. If the question is advice-shaped, the app replies: > "I can describe options A and B. For a recommendation, let me connect you with one of our advisors," + a booking button. 5. Every interaction logged.
Why this shape works
- Defensible to a regulator.
- Uses data you already have — no new sources needed.
- No login = ships fast.
- Clear boundary: inform, don't advise.
Next step
Answer the three questions from article 1. Come back with your answers and we scope your app — still no code until you want it.
